Rosario pitches seven shutout innings in win over Wake Forest

Rosario pitches seven shutout innings in win over Wake Forest Miami’s true freshman starting pitcher Alejandro Rosario had already picked up a dominant win in conference play over Virginia Tech two weeks prior. Now the test was to see if the Miami native could open a weekend series under the brightest lights in south Florida at Mark Light Field. Rosario picked up his second win of the season, striking out seven through the same number of innings, and Miami (7-4, 4-3 ACC) shut out Wake Forest (3-5, 1-3 ACC) 10-0 on Friday night. “It’s all about just experience,” Rosario said. “I feel like every time I go out there, I’m just getting better. I feel good; I’m just trying to get the job done and help my team win.”

Miami batted a season-high .323 as a team and hit .400 with runners in scoring position. With both the bases loaded and with a runner on third with less than two outs, UM hit 1.000. The Hurricane leadoff hitters also went a combined 4-8.

After trailing for much of the game, UM clubbed four home runs between the sixth and seventh innings, three of which came in dramatic back-to-back-to-back fashion.

Miami rallies late to take second game from NC State North Carolina State first baseman Austin Murr’s fisted ball fell into Christian Del Castillo’s glove in right field, bringing a collective sigh of relief to the Miami dugout inside Doak Field at Dail Park on Saturday. Losing the weekend opener for a second-straight week, the Miami Hurricanes baseball team sought to even its second Atlantic Coast Conference series in as many tries on the season. Freshman first baseman CJ Kayfus hit a leadoff home run in the top of the eighth inning and No. 6 Miami (4-4, 2-3 ACC) defeated No. 24 NC State (4-5, 1-4 ACC) 6-4 in the second game of the series Saturday afternoon.
