Silver for Portsea’s masters
PORTSEA Surf Life Saving Club’s masters men’s beach relay team won a silver medal at the 2021 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
Team members Brett Croft, Darren Kerr, Henry Kiss and Jim Unkles, pictured, also participated in events on the sand, with Kiss coming fifth in the 50-54 years men’s beach sprint and Unkles placed sixth in the 30-34 men’s beach sprint.
The team was also named the Life Saving Victoria Open/Masters Team of the Year in 2020 for its results at the state and national level.

Richland County Sheriff’s Office Maintains National Law Enforcement Accreditation by CALEAÒ
The Richland County Sheriff’s Office was awarded national accreditation on March 27, 2021 by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEAÒ) in the Law Enforcement program. The agency was first accredited in 2017.
Following a multi-year self-assessment phase and a meticulous site-based assessment of community engagement, policy, procedures, equipment and facilities by CALEA assessors, Sheriff J. Steve Sheldon, Major Joe Masi and Accreditation Manager Mr. Richard Schuller attended the CALEA conference via teleconference. Each agency being reviewed, goes before CALEA’s 21-member Board of Commissioners where the commission reviews all findings and determines the agencies’ accreditation status.

RICHMOND – The Virginia State Police has been awarded national accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®). In 1986, the Virginia State Police was the second state police agency in the nation to achieve accreditation through CALEA. CALEA accreditation serves as the foundation for a successful, well-managed, transparent, community-focused law enforcement agency. On Nov. 13, 2020, Virginia State Police was awarded this honor for the tenth time.
