10 April 7, 2021 (CAMP RIPLEY, MINNESOTA) – Each April, Americans recognize and honor the more than 2 million military children during the Month of the Military Child.
“It’s really important to recognize military children because they go through a lot,” said Mr. Anthony Housey, director of Camp Ripley Public Affairs. “They have to come along for the ride; they don’t get a choice. April is about recognizing these kids and how resilient they are.”
While frequent moves can be challenging for anyone, the unarguably toughest experience for a military child is the separation from a parent who is deployed.
Children of National Guard or Reserve soldiers or Airmen living in every community are experiencing this especially with the onset of civil unrest in the Twin Cities and rising COVID-19 numbers over the last year. Minnesota National Guard soldiers have played a huge role in keeping the community safe.
