Following marathon deliberations that lasted more than 14 hours over two days, a New Kensington man was found not guilty of first-degree murder while the jury failed to reach a verdict on remaining counts that included allegations he shot and killed another man during a botched robbery four years ago.

New Kensington police said DNA test results led them to file additional gun and drug charges against a city man accused of fatally shooting an Arnold man last January and firing shots at four people the month before that.
The new charges against Letresse Tareke Williams, 30, stem from his Feb. 4arrest at a Kenneth Avenue home by the Western Pennsylvania U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force. He has been in Westmoreland County Prison since then.

An Arnold man who was shot and killed at a New Kensington housing complex in January died because of a robbery gone bad, according to a criminal complaint.
Authorities said Letresse Tareke Williams, 30, of New Kensington, planned to rob Anthone Williams, 31, in a section of the East Ken Manor housing complex that has been closed since the 1990s.
John W. Clark, a detective with the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office, said he doesn’t believe the two men are related.
