Feed LA and YMCA Distribute Food To Those In Need

Canyon News PACIFIC PALISADES Feed LA and the city of Los Angeles partnered with YMCA to distribute food via “Grab and Go” programs to those in need including a location in Pacific Palisades. According to the Feed La website, statistics indicate that they have “provided nearly 1,000,000 nutritious meals to families; 25,000 hours of child care for essential workers; 100,000 pounds of groceries to homebound seniors; 20,000 showers and supply kits to those who are homeless; and nearly 3,000 pints of blood to patients in need.” According to the World Bank, “COVID-19 is estimated to have dramatically increased the number of people facing acute food insecurity in 2020. WFP estimates that 149 million people (including refugees) were acutely food insecure (i.e., facing food crisis conditions or worse, also known as Integrated Phase Classification – Phase 3 or higher) across 79 countries in 2019. Hollywood YMCA To Offer Free Breast Cancer Screenings

Reply Social distancing measures will be enforced. (Shutterstock) HOLLYWOOD, CA YMCA s across Los Angeles will launch a six-week program offering uninsured women free breast cancer screenings. Screenings will take 15 minutes, and will provide a referral to a licensed doctor or medical professional for follow-up care. The Hollywood YMCA will host screenings on January 21 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m at 1553 N. Schrader Blvd. Attendees can RSVP at alineaevents.com/ymca-2021, but walk-ups will also be accepted. This program is part of the Y s continuing effort to make sure our community members are able to get the necessary services to maintain a healthy lifestyle, said Mario Valenzuela, vice president of equity and inclusion for the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles.
