Despite recent comments from health department boss Brendan Murphy that the country’s borders will remain closed until 2022, the expedition cruise operator has reported strong bookings for travel in late 2021 and into 2022. “At the same time, we do see the repercussions of the poorly timed, unclear and inconsistent communication from policymakers and senior politicians and health advisors,” said Damian Perry, managing director of Hurtigruten for the Asia Pacific. “The rhetoric and tone of the messages continue to sew doubt into travellers’ minds and will continue to drive a nail into the coffin of both local domestic and international tour operators, wholesalers and retailers, because of political motivations.

The savings are available on expedition cruises in Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Northwest Passage, Norway, Svalbard, British Isles and the Americas. Running from now until 20 February, the sale includes Hurtigruten’s Antarctica All-Inclusive with Flights package, which is back after a strong reception in December 2020. With fares starting from $10,999 per person, the Antarctica All-Inclusive deal bundles Antarctic expeditions with flights from Australia to South America, as well as transfers and pre and post-accommodation.
