NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â A parade of people stopped traffic Sunday afternoon in honor of slain Nashville toddler Jamayla Marlowe.
The three-year-old was shot and killed in the backseat of a car on Monday. Her two-year-old sister Antania Butler was also shot too. She survived the incident and was at the march. I mean, I just feel the love, said Earl Jones, Marlowe s great grandfather. My baby left a legacy. A legacy that will always live on.
Dozens of relatives, friends and community members marched on Dickerson Pike in the three-year-old s honor.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â Metro Nashville Police detectives charged 23-year-old Thomas L. Winston Jr. (also known as Thomas L. Mitchell) with criminal homicide in the death of 3-year-old Jamayla Marlowe during a shootout at the Cumberland View public housing development.

Winston Jr. was injured in the shootout Monday night and was charged after being released from the hospital Thursday.
Police say Winston Jr. got to the public housing development Monday night as a large group of people was gathering in a parking lot. As he walked between two buildings, shots were fired from that direction across the parking lot, and at least three people returned fire, according to the MNPD preliminary report.

Little Jamayla and her 2-year-old half-sister were both caught in the crossfire when police say people started shooting. We wake up in the morning, Iâm ready to go to work she says, paw paw, give me a hug, give me kiss, give me blow, give me fist bump , said Earl Jones.
Jones says this is how his great-granddaughter Jamayla would greet him every morning.

Man arrested in connection with girl s shooting death

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) A man who police say was involved in a shooting that left a 3-year-old Tennessee girl dead and another child wounded has been arrested.
Anthony L. Sharp, 24, was charged on Tuesday with felony aggravated assault, Nashville police said in a statement.
Police said they are still working to identify others involved in the shooting Monday at Cumberland View public housing development. The shooting killed Jamaylah Marlowe and wounded her 2-year-old half-sister Antania Butler and two men in a vehicle in the parking lot.
One man, Thomas L. Winston Jr., 23, was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and the other, Deandre Dean, 26, suffered a leg wound.
