5 Freeway Car Fire Blocks Traffic In Santa Clarita A car fire on the 5 Freeway in Santa Clarita temporarily stopped traffic on Sunday, officials said.  Around 3:40 p.m. Sunday, emergency responders received reports of a vehicle fire on the northbound 5 Freeway at Templin Highway, according to Miguel Ornelas, a dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.  “The engine compartment caught on fire,” Ornelas said. Traffic on the northbound 5 Freeway was stopped for the duration of the incident.  Forward progression of the fire had been stopped as of 4:10, according to California Highway Patrol incident logs.
