That's right, the Portland Mercury’s Undisputable Geniuses of Comedy 2023 returns for 2023, and features Portland’s funniest people (and hilarious up-and-comers) all on one stage. Stand-up comedians, improv comedy, and crazy stuff that defies explanation. and all of it laugh-out-loud funny—which is.

While it seems easy to ask that now, we couldn't have written this piece six months ago. Coming off the winter surge—no one could say where Portland comedy was going. But now? She is one of the many artists forced to move away during the pandemic when the sudden lack of work conflicted with our city's high rent. But the big news is Murphy is now preparing to move back—in just a few weeks! And the similarly big news: She's put together a wildly start-studded bill of local talent for her preparatory visit.
On Monday, former Portland’s Funniest winner Steven Wilber returns to town to try out some brand new material that promises to push the comedy envelope—which is saying a lot for this comic who’s already known onstage as an “Agent of Chaos.” For example, here’s a (rejected) idea for his upcoming show, Spaghettiwall: “At one point I was thinking—since it costs $300 to rent the venue—I would sell $100 tickets, but just to just three people,”.
