Advocates are calling for the term 'femicide' to be included in the Criminal Code of Canada, ahead of a funeral service for a mother and daughter who were killed in Ottawa's Alta Vista neighbourhood three weeks ago. It was one of 86 recommendations released by a jury in a Renfrew County coroner's inquest, on the same day of the stabbing.
The 19-year-old woman who survived a vicious attack that led to the deaths of her mother and younger sister has been discharged from the hospital, a family friend says.
