Among the relics at the Thoroughgood House in Virginia Beach, an 18th-century calamanco quilt is showing its age. So much so that’s it’s been selected by the Virginia Association of Museums as one of the state’s “Top 10 Endangered Artifacts.” Residents can vote on their favorite through March 3.
With first-person programming – convincingly portraying a period character – reproduction clothing is a prerequisite. The appearance and quality of the period attire complements the interpretation, contributes to demeanor of the interpreter and adds an air of credibility to the presentation.
