VALPARAISOÂ â The Valparaiso Community Schools Thursday night board meeting was rescheduled after a group of about 25 people showed up not wearing face masks.Â
One parent in the district, Veronica Wilson, paced along one side of the room holding up a sign that said, Our kids need to see smiles.
Wilson and other parents told The Times they want to be able to choose whether or not they send their children to school wearing a mask. They don t want them to be required for all students.Â
Superintendent Dr. Jim McCall was not available for comment immediately Thursday night.Â

HAMMOND â School City of Hammond teachers presented findings of a student-led project about how to come together as one at the new Hammond Central High School.
At a Wednesday school board meeting, Nathan Foor, instructional coach at George Rogers Clark Middle/High School, and Kimberly Montero, an English teacher at Hammond High School, led the presentation.
The Hammond Central Wolves Project had students answer three main questions: âWho am I?â, âWho are we?,â and âWho are the wolves?â
Students also explored more specific questions such as, What should a successful school provide for students? In the project presentation, one student said, Comfort, students should feel like they belong.
