Roskino, When East Meets West Partner on Co-Production Forum for Russian Biz

For the third edition of its Key Buyers Event, a three-day content market showcasing the latest Russian productions to international buyers, state film promotion body Roskino is expanding the co-production market it introduced last year.
The revamped event is the result of a collaboration with When East Meets West, the Trieste Film Festival’s co-production forum, which is dedicated to fostering partnerships between producers in the former Eastern Bloc and their counterparts in the more developed industries of the West.

Worldwide and remake rights to Argentine political horror pic, “History of the Occult,” has been snapped up by leading Buenos Aires-based sales and production company, FilmSharks International.
According to FilmSharks’ CEO Guido Rud, advanced talks are underway with a streaming giant while a major U.S. genre producer is eyeing it for a remake, which FilmSharks subsidiary, The Remake Company, handles.

Nearly a year after accusations of sexual harassment and abuse were leveled against Ciro Guerra, the Colombian director behind Oscar-nominated “Embrace of the Serpent,” a Bogota court overseeing a defamation case filed by the filmmaker has ruled in his favor, and asked for more evidence from the outlet that ran the claims.
The court has ordered the editors of Volcanicas, a Latin American feminist journal, to rectify their June 24 article because it did “not comply with the requirements of veracity and impartiality,” as it lacked detail and evidence.
