PUPILS at a Halesowen school have raised a whopping £1,616 for the British legion after a series of ‘poppy runs’ around the school grounds. The students in years 7 and 8 at Leasowes High School were concerned about report of a major drop in fundraising for charities generally because of the pandemic and decided they wanted to do something to help make up the shortfall. Anne-Marie Bennett, head of PE, said: “We organised six poppy run sessions so that they could participate in a safe, socially distanced way and students completed the run course around the school grounds. “Over the six sessions, students covered 1063 miles.
