Sisyphus is one of Greek mythology s more memorable tales: the man who cheated death twice but couldn t escape his comeuppance when it finally came for him. As the title of this week s instalment suggests, Mare is feeling very sorry for herself after the showdown which closed out the previous episode, staring at the ceiling as her family leave for work. After trying to frame Carrie with a packet of heroin, and the regrets over her relationship with her son before he killed himself, Mare is finally having to face her daemons as her decisions catch up with her.
Down at the police station, news arrives that neither Frank nor Dylan are the father of Erin s baby. As the wisecracking detective who has replaced Mare yells at Detective Zobel, No shit, kid. Dylan takes the news out on baby Deejay, which gives us a moment in which you can almost see the resentment for Dylan flicker in his parent s eyes as he demands the baby leaves the room. Poor little guy.
