HE WAS the war veteran that brought the country together during some of the Covid-19 pandemic s most difficult moments. Now, in memory of fundraising hero Captain Sir Tom Moore, a Hampshire businesswoman has created a cake to depict his likeness. Captain Tom, as he was affectionately known, died last Tuesday after contracting Covid-19. He raised £33million for the NHS by walking 100 laps of his garden in Bedfordshire, in time for his 100th birthday last April. Kirsty Anne Foulkes, 29, from Hamble, previously worked as a chef, but wanted to do something special to remember the veteran. She said: “I had been wanting to have a go at making a bust cake of someone inspirational for a while and then just sort of forgot about it.
