Elks Lodge #995 Gives Beacon Grant to Anne Carlsen Center

Article submitted JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Elks Lodge #995 has a proud tradition of holding events for the Anne Carlsen Center for Children. Typically, the event consists of a day where the children go and enjoy a movie at our local movie theater with a pizza party to follow. Like all other community-based projects this year, everyone’s safety and wellbeing under COVID-19 is our main priority. Elks lodge #995 unfortunately had to make the decision to void the event for the children this year due to the pandemic, but came together and chose to benefit the children in another way to meet pressing needs.

The staff of the Anne Carlsen Center had a simple concept for protecting the students during the coronavirus pandemic, according to Tim Eissinger, CEO of the Anne Carlsen Center.

Michael Meyer named chief development officer for Anne Carlsen Center

Meyer will be based in Fargo-Moorhead 10:32 am, Feb. 22, 2021 × Michael Mike Meyer Anne Carlsen Center has named Michael Mike Meyer as chief development officer. Meyer joins the organization to lead and serve the development and marketing teams. Most recently, serving as the managing director of development at North Dakota State University Foundation in Fargo, Meyer brings over 30 years of marketing and fundraising experience along with a strong grasp on managing a development team, said ACC. Although serving Anne Carlsen statewide, he will be officed in the Fargo-Moorhead area. “Mike brings strong relationship skills and a very caring heart to the role of leading the development team at Anne Carlsen,” said Tim Eissinger, CEO. “He will play a key part as we finalize our capital campaign and prepare to celebrate our 80th anniversary this year. We feel very fortunate to add a person of Mike’s abilities to the Anne Carlsen team.”

Tourism Grant Executive Committee Approves Chalkfest Funding

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Tourism Grant/Executive Board approved a grant request to the Jamestown Arts Center for their planned Chalkfest event. Executive Director Mindi Schmitz says they would focus on bringing in nationally known chalk artists for the event in June. The Arts Center would partner with Ave Maria Village and Anne Carlsen Center. The requested amount of $10,000 would be used to help pay for the artists. The Arts Center earlier this year received some Main Street Initiative Vibrancy Grant funding to help pay for the event. Schmitz says the artists participating are well-known for what they do.

Anne Carlsen Center students send flowers to nursing home residents in Jamestown

There were 150 carnations given to residents of the facilities with handwritten notes from ACC students. Submitted photo This year Anne Carlsen Center celebrated the 100th day of school on Jan. 29. Students decorated flower gift tags and then sent every resident at Eventide Jamestown nursing home and Ave Maria Village a carnation to let them know they were thinking of them. There were 150 carnations distributed. Knowing the impact that COVID-19 has had on long-term care facilities and the connections with residents and staff at local nursing homes, we chose to donate flowers and handmade notes from our students to brighten their day, said Sarah Duven, special education teacher at Anne Carlsen Center.
