Ida Wanner, 97, pass-ed away peacefully in the care of hospice, at her home in Lakewood, Colorado on March 1, 2024. She will be remembered for her positive outlook on life, her down-to-earth character, her traditional German cooking including kuchen, knoephla and strudels, and her love of God, helping those in need, and the color purple. Ida was born December 19, 1926 at Wishek,ND, the daughter of Christian and Christina (Schilling) Unruh. She was baptized at the family home, attended church and Sunday school, and was con- firmed at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. She helped on the family farm by cooking, baking, and sewing for her brothers and sisters and attended Wishek Public School through 8th grade. On November 16, 1947 Ida married Ferdinand (Fred) Wanner at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. They moved to Jamestown where they made their home for many years and raised five children.
