A bill sponsored by two Anne Arundel County Council Republicans to raise the vesting period for pensions for council members, rendering them unable to earn pensions, failed to pass the County Council Monday night.
The county’s top earner, according to personnel data acquired through a Maryland Public Information Act request, is Chief Administrative Officer Matt Power, who has a $219,349 annual salary this fiscal year.
This year, voters passed all eight questions the council voted to add to the ballot. The questions ranged from extending term limits for council members to distinguishing between different types of emergency ordinances to making the charter gender neutral.
