Early morning grass fire contained after damaging a business and some heavy machinery Fire broke out early Wednesday morning crews on the scene and last updated 2021-04-28 11:00:06-04 CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi firefighters put out a grass fire Wednesday morning. The fire started between Navigation Blvd. and Flato Rd. in Corpus Christi near the West Oso High School. According to Nueces County ESD 2 Fire Chief Dale Scott, the fire covered a huge area and did some damage to a business. Several propane tanks and other heavy machinery at a business were damaged. It took fire crews several hours to get the fire under control.

Calf rescued from Nueces River

Updated: 9:30 PM CDT April 3, 2021 NUECES COUNTY, Texas Annaville fire crews and boat 71 responded to the Nueces River to help free a calf the banks of the river Saturday afternoon. According to the Annaville Fire Department, the calf was unable to free itself from the banks of the river. Boat 71 launched from Hazel Bazemore Park and proceeded to location where they found the livestock. The fire department says property owners had made several attempts to free the cow before calling on help. Thankfully the calf is safe. Irene and Roger Garcia, 58 and 60, were out eating with their son, Roger jr., 21, when their house caught fire on Jan. 4. I don’t know where the fire started, but when we came back there was a neighbor on the porch and they said our house was on fire, Irene said. Bluntzer Fire Department, Annaville Fire Department and Nueces County ESD #3 responded to the fire. Bluntzer Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Diana Bluntzer said the cause of the fire was most likely electrical.

The Annaville Fire Department was dispatched about 7:05 a.m. to a structure fire, according to Annaville Fire Chief Michael Clack. Upon arrival, firefighters saw heavy smoke and flames pouring through the rook. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to a small facility attached to the house.
