There isnât much that the COVID-19 pandemic didnât impact in 2020 â health care, schools, businesses and public events.
Since January, when news of COVID-19 was starting to circulate, local officials at the Henry County Health Department started updating plans already in place for communicable diseases, including meeting with representatives from Henry County Hospital, EMS and fire departments, law enforcement and Henry County Emergency Management Agency and the departmentâs medical director, Dr. Anna McMaster.
In March, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine first recommended large, indoor gatherings in Ohio be canceled or postponed due to the potential for COVID-19 exposure, followed quickly by the closure of kindergarten through 12th grade school buildings first until April 3, extended through May 1 and then through the rest of the year.
