Königssee (RWH) Defending World Cup Champion in Women’s Skeleton Jacqueline Lölling (GER) celebrated her first win of the season at the BMW IBSF World Cup in Königssee (GER). In the penultimate race of the 2020/2021 season, the Olympic silver medallist stood at the top of the podium after setting the best time in the second run.
In second place, 0.47 seconds behind winner Lölling, Anna Fernstaedt (CZE) surprised with her best World Cup result and the first podium finish of a skeleton athlete from the Czech Republic.
Gassner piles pressure on World Cup leader Dukurs with Königssee win Friday, 22 January 2021
In-form Alexander Gassner cranked up the heat on overall men s skeleton leader Martins Dukurs with victory at the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Cup in Königssee in Germany.
The German registered a winning time of 1min 39.88sec after runs of 49.91 and 49.97 on his home track, while Latvia’s Dukurs produced his worst performance of the season.
Dukurs finished more than a second behind Gassner in 11th place as he watched his rival win for the second successive race.
With just one stage remaining, defending champion Dukurs holds a 60-point lead over Gassner at the top of the overall standings.
Janine Flock closes in on 2nd skeleton World Cup title

KONIGSSEE, Germany (AP) Austria’s Janine Flock all but clinched her second women’s World Cup overall skeleton championship Friday, while Germany’s Jacqueline Loelling picked up her first series win of the season.
Loelling prevailed over Anna Fernstaedt of the Czech Republic, who was a career-best second. Flock was third and now can wrap up the title next weekend on her home track in Innsbruck, where the World Cup finale will take place.
Flock, who also won the 2014-15 women’s season title, has been in the top-three in every race this season. All she needs in the finale to clinch the championship is to finish 18th or better.
