When thinking about the impact the pandemic has had on female employment and job losses over the last 12 months, the #ChooseToChallenge message this International Women’s Day has never been more important. A recent report by McKinsey reveal women account for 54 % of overall Covid-19 job losses, despite females only making up 39% of global employment. The figures are shocking. Clearly, the fight against gender inequality in the workplace is an ongoing battle.
Falmouth University’s venture studio, Launchpad, has partnered with Code First Girls as part of its commitment to support more women into the tech industry. The partnership will offer free part-time remote coding courses for women and non-binary students at both Launchpad and Falmouth University. Launchpad aims to give entrepreneurial candidates an opportunity to work on building the companies of tomorrow with strategic partners supported by experienced coaches and mentors to help create investable companies for positive global impact. Code First Girls is on a mission to help those who identify as women and non-binary to gain the skills, space and inspiration to become the developers and leaders of the future.

Falmouth University has teamed up with Code First Girls to encourage even more women to join the tech and software industry.
Though its entrepreneur incubator Launchpad, the university will work with the community interest company to rebalance the gender inequalities that exist in the tech world.
The partnership will offer free part-time remote coding courses for women and non-binary students at Launchpad and the university in Falmouth, Cornwall.

Goldman Sachs, Rolls Royce and Bank of America, among others, are teaming up with Code First Girls, a UK group dedicated to closing gender skills gaps and bringing women into technology roles.
Code First Girls will provide mentorship programmes along with up to £10,000 in free education to women undertaking technology related training courses. The latest partnerships are part of Code First Girls’ pledge to double its community to 40,000 women.
