In one of the first returns to live indoor productions since March 2020, Cotuit Center for the Arts has brought back “Grounded,” its celebrated 2017 one-person show with teacher Anna Botsford reprising her role as a fighter pilot.
Cotuit reworked its main-stage area from 175 seats to 50, all comfortable socially distanced. It was spectacular Thursday night to be watching live theater again, and the very intense “Grounded” kept us all captivated while also forcing us to reflect on how our own lives have changed in the past year.
The 90-minute, one-act, one-person show follows Botsford’s unnamed United States Air Force pilot first as she soars through her early life in fighter planes. “Astronauts have eternity; I have blue,” she says, referring to the skies that she loses herself in in her plane “Tiger.”
