Police shootings stir up nice Minnesotans, media attack DeSantis

Sarasota Herald-Tribune Minnesotans reach breaking point Dateline Minneapolis: Instead of watching breaking news about late-season snow flurries I ve become disturbed about the coverage of protest and curfew violations in the city I and many others have long regarded as a bastion of tolerance and uncomplicated diversity.  Apparently, “Minnesota Nice” is a well-earned appellation, according to countless media references, particularly in competitive sports. As a graduate of the University of Minnesota s School of Journalism and a Twin Cities journalist in the 1950s and beyond, I personally experienced many examples of this niceness. I like one columnist s description of the state s U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar during her 2020 primary race for the Democratic presidential nomination. He referred to her evenhanded, semipartisan approach to political campaigning as an example of “Minnesota girls who laugh easily and often.”
