I have spent over 25 years in Public Service in a number of Government Agencies and i had the opportunity to come over and be the head of the Aarp Foundation. And i spent two years there really trying to institute and constitute the foundation to have it solely focused on serving the needs of the low income of 50 plus across the organization and as a result of the success that we had and the foundation, the ceo asked me if i would come over to their side and help develop a strategy for 2020 to make sure aarp was relevant to its members in the 21st century. As part of that transition and building strategy, the opportunity and opening came to be the ceo of aarp. While not planned, it was a wonderful transition for me to be able to move from being an initially a board member for the forprofit and are running the company.
