Alice Leonatti has seen the Miss Missouri Scholarship Competition from three sides. She watched from the seats as a spectator. She also had a daughter in the competition. For more than a decade, Leonatti has supported the event as a volunteer, starting as a liaison with mothers of candidates, and now serving as co-executive director, helping executive director Ann Jolly. Leonatti retired from teaching at St. Brendan’s School in 2004.
1. Why stay involved in Miss Missouri? It’s a joy. Christie [her daughter] got so much out of it. To speak on their feet, to find an area they’re passionate about. The skills you develop will hold them for the rest of their lives. And having Miss Missouri in Mexico is a big thing.
