Some Nova Scotia organizations working with vulnerable communities are urging members of the public to donate their old cellphones so they can be put to good use helping others.
CBC News spoke to three Nova Scotia women who fled abusive relationships and have been staying in shelters for months as they search for housing. They say they can't find anywhere affordable to live, and two are worried they will have no choice but to go back to their abusers.
Nova Scotia RCMP flagged in 2020 that its officers were not equipped to deal with a growing number of intimate partner violence reports, but a request for "much-needed" experts to investigate these cases was not approved by the province.
