the napier airport and runway sit right in the middle of busy shopping areas and subdivisions. the airport has been here since 1955 and there has never been a fatal accident with its planes. tonight the fact that laura and morgan mckee survived is nothing near of a relief. the 63-year-old wife maureen was the passenger. the couple was flying to pittsburgh but crashed into the roof of export fitness, the building righting in front of the plane. if the aircraft s ability to climb is compromised for some reason, the pilot s only good alternative is to maintain a straight course and try to keep the airplane flying. it sounded like it was sputtering. it was wobbling a bit. i m not sure what was going on. you could hear the engine. it sounded like it was going in and out. reporter: the plane crashed through bricks and steel. there were 280 people inside the building. no one else was hurt. i felt the building shake as if someone was dropping weights. reporter: lloyd mckee
