Seats up for reelection include two at-large city council seats, along with the seat for mayor. One incumbent has announced their intentions to seek reelection, along with three additional candidates.
Candidates can begin filing nomination papers to the Ankeny city clerk on Aug. 9 with a deadline of 5 p.m. on Aug. 26.
If more than four people file paperwork for the at-large seats, then a primary will take place on Oct. 5. The same will apply if more than two people run for mayor. Currently, there are not enough candidates for a primary.
