The group of 39 men claiming to be from Pakistan , India and Bangladesh landed on remote coastline near Beagle and Pender Bays in Western Australia s north on Friday.
The Australia Border Force and Operation Sovereign Borders have launched a joint agency taskforce in response to a rise in smuggling operations following a landmark High Court decision last month.
It s the first boat to make it to the Australian mainland through the Operation Sovereign Borders turnback policy since dozens of hardened criminals in permanent detention were freed.
Those on board are understood to have been saved by the local Aboriginal people as the vessel pulled up to an isolated stretch of the Anjo Peninsula, on the northern tip of Western Australia .
