Elgin Area School District U-46 will honor the academic success and accomplishments of graduating seniors who rank in the top two percent of their class at 6 p.m. Monday, May 10, inside the South Elgin High School auditorium, 760 E. Main St. The ceremony will be live-streamed and archived on the School District U-46 YouTube channel.
The 47 students are the top-achieving graduates from the district s five comprehensive high schools, and they are also featured as part of the district s Class of 2021 website section, and through a series of social media posts.
Also Monday, the board of education will recognize Maggie Schroeder, a coordinator with Project Access, the district s homeless education program, which supports nearly 1,000 students annually. Schroeder identifies students in temporary living situations and assists them to enroll, attend, and succeed in school. Sustainability in the fashion industry has long been recognised as a key driver in the creation of a circular economy, reducing waste and addressing the issue of resource scarcity. Emerging Europe is no exception, and concern for the effect that shopping habits have on the environment has seen an explosion in the number of sustainable fashion brands hailing from the region.
And yet while such brands present a less environmentally harmful option when compared to fast fashion, another, much more accessible alternative is simply purchasing second-hand clothing and goods.
