Joy Webb, who has died aged 91, was a Salvation Army captain in the 1960s who founded a beat group to spread the Gospel; lauded by Cliff Richard, they played in places as diverse as the Playboy Club, the streets of Brixton and the steps of St Paul’s Cathedral, and twice reached the Top 40.
