Joel a Winter Weather advisory is in effect and weve got our eye on that storm system making its way into North Carolina that could bring snow, sleet and rain tomorrow and into the weekend. Anna crews have expanded brining efforts across the area. First, chief meteorologist, Chris Hohmann kicks off our coverage from the first alert storm center. Chris it is going to be a light event in terms of precipitation. A clear and cold day here with lots of sunshine. No worries with anything going on precipitation wise this evening or tonight. We are watching a system off to the northwest. It doesnt look all that impressive but the energy is going to spawn and energy of low an area of low pressure off of our coast. Nothing showing up here. Breaks out. It is pretty much winding down early into the evening hours. A quick hitting system and temperatures will struggle to get above freezing. Accumulations look to be half an inch to up to an inch.
Be set for a cold and dry evening. You see northern missouri into iowa and nebraska. This will hook in low pressure of the coast. Predictor. During the morning hours, there could be scattered areas of light sleet and snow across the sandhills. As we get across the midday hours, light snow develops across the triangle. It will be a mixture of light sleet and freezing rain. Around the triangle through, say, midday, early afternoon, a little light snow, maybe sleet mixed in with that, maybe snow to the northeast. By mid to late afternoon, it begins to move on out. A very shortlived winter storm. This is going to be a matter of hours that could still cause slick spots, a halfinch to an inch. Be mainly snow. This could cause slick spots. The triangle, we will be on the line. Probably not a lot on the ground across the sandhills, but there could be minor glazing on elevated services, no power outages.
