A group of international scientists, including UvA professor Judy Shamoun-Baranes, warns that changes to European meteorological data policies threaten biodiversity monitoring as they make vital data unavailable. In a letter published in Science on 16 April, they point out that policies in Europe should be adjusted to take into account the broad role that weather radars play beyond meteorology.

Santa Claus granted Animal Movement Permit by Florida Agriculture commissioner
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Claus of the North Pole as well as their reindeer were given a special Animal Movement Permit for the hours of the evening of Dec. 24 through early Christmas morning.
Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried issued the permit to allow the Claus’ and their reindeer Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, and Rudolph – to enter and exit all homes, domiciles, encampments, and premises in the state of Florida between the hours of 8:00 PM on December 24 and 7:00 AM December 25, through or over any US border port.
