RACINE, Wis. - There are now two tawny frogmouths at the Racine Zoo! The Zoo is pleased to introduce the newest animal to the zoo family – Groot, the tawny frogmouth! Groot joins the Zoo’s resident tawny frogmouth, Ashton, in the Australian-themed Walkabout Creek Exhibit, alongside kangaroos, wallaroos, and emu. We are excited to welcome Groot, Ashton’s brother, into our exhibit, said Angie Sagert, the Zoo’s Animal Care Supervisor and primary zookeeper for the Walkabout Creek exhibit. We do our best to help the SSP whenever possible, and after consideration and discussion with SSP experts, determined we had plenty of space to house another frogmouth.

WACO, TX â With over 1,700 animals from all over the world, every animal at Cameron Park Zoo needs a certain habitat to survive.
Employees have been doing whatever it takes to make sure the animals stay warm.
On Saturday, the zoo began making preparations for the arctic blast that was heading towards Central Texas. With hundreds of animals sensitive to arctic temperatures, employees began remaking habitats in buildings around the zoo, including in bathrooms.

Known as the place for families to gather, discover new animals, and have fun – you can imagine that Canada’s zoos, aquariums, and aviaries have been hit hard by the pandemic.
The pause in visitors has brought a new-found difficulty in feeding the thousands of animals. The Toronto Zoo normally funds the $1 million annual cost of food with paid guest parking. The Zoo is asking for donations through Zoo Food for Life, which already raised enough to feed the animals from April to December 2020.
Aside from feeding the animals, Dolf DeJong, CEO of the Toronto Zoo says his team misses connecting the visitors with animals the most.
