Michelle Garvie, 40, was jailed after she admitted repeatedly punching a woman during a scuffle at Poundstretcher, Lochee Road, on December 11. Garvie also threatened to murder another staff member as she left while throwing the stolen goods. Dundee Sheriff Court heard how staff became suspicious of Garvie, who has multiple previous convictions, as she pulled a basket containing numerous items worth £164.51. Fiscal depute Gavin Burton said: “The accused was seen selecting numerous items from the shelves and putting items down the front of her jacket and a shopping bag.

Police draw taser on a man who refused to turn down the volume of his TV

© Kim Cessford Dundee Sheriff Court. Police drew a taser on a man who tried to headbutt and bite officers after he had refused to turn down his booming television. Richard Nicoll, 22, threatened the families of PCs Lewis Smith and Jamie Hays after being placed in a police van on December 9. Dundee Sheriff Court heard how one of the officers drew his taser in an effort to calm Nicoll down but did not discharge it. Residents on Abernethy Road had raised multiple complaints with police throughout the evening because of the noise that was coming from Nicoll’s address. Nicoll immediately became aggressive after answering the door to the police.
