Construction would begin in 2023 and be completed in 2027. Asked about the effects of the pandemic, architect Anik Shooner said “the building was conceived with the reality of the pandemic in mind, while counting on the return of people downtown.” Polls showing people have taken a liking to working remotely have been “evolving quickly,” Shooner added, “and recently people are starting to want to come back to offices downtown.”

Topics including potential tenants, eco-responsibility, bicycle access and building height were discussed during a public consultation about the proposed renovation of the iconic Hudson Bay building on Ste-Catherine St. Wednesday evening. The virtual event was hosted by the Office de consultation publique de Montréal.
