Notorious pot-smoking gangsta rapper Snoop Dogg is leading the Australian wine industry s fightback against crippling Chinese trade tariffs.
Treasury Wine Estates, which owns the maker of Australia s most prestigious wine Grange, has found an unlikely ambassador in the controversial Californian.
Melbourne-based Treasury is one of the world s largest vintners, producing award-winning wines in Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Argentina and the United States.
Its major local labels include Lindeman s, Rosemount Estate, Wolf Blass and Penfolds, which produces Grange, the latest vintage of which retails for $950.
In a disruptive masterstroke that does not fit with Grange s long-established traditional image, the company enlisted Snoop to promote its 19 Crimes line.
