Jessie and Angie Delaplane
Fraternal twins Jessie and Angie Delaplane grew up on Pine Island in the house still owned by their parents. Although Angie, now an artist in Bradenton, and Jessie, who followed in her father’s footsteps into insurance and moves off-island, have been separated, they still consider the island home.
“Our grandfather found Pine Island back in the 1970s,” said Jessie. “He and my father came and ended up building the house they still live in today.”
According to Jessie, who recalls being proud to have been one of the two first altar girls at the local Catholic church, the best thing about growing up on the island was all the privacy it had to offer.
