Congress must help
Regarding “Shutdown averted as Trump signs aid bill,” (A1, Dec. 28): First I am blessed so that I do not need the stimulus check. Why does Congress have to include so much funding that appears to have nothing to do with helping those in need during this pandemic? I do know that if every person in the United States received $600 it would be less than 25 percent of the $900 billion package. This package should be all about the unemployed, renters and the small businesses. Every time you close or reduce capacity you are destroying the working people. If leaders were required to show a line item breakdown to the American people many in Congress would be voted out of office. It is a shame the news is afraid to show we the people the truth. I am glad President Donald Trump wanted more for those in need. Let us hope that Congress will help.
