Ange Kouame is making sure that he’ll be ready to face South Korea’s Ricardo Ratliffe and Indonesia’s Lester Prosper in the event he makes his debut for Gilas Pilipinas as a naturalized player in next month’s FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers in Pampanga.
Kouame, who only needs a signature of President Duterte in order to become a naturalized Filipino, said he’s been studying how to deal with matching up against the two former PBA imports ahead of the third and final window of the continental qualifiers set June 16 to 20.

The naturalization papers of Gilas Pilipinas recruit Angelo Kouame and Azkals player Bienve Marañon were both approved on the third and final reading of the Senate on Monday, March 15.
It took just 20 days for the Senate to approve the two bills, which initially got the approval from Congress on House Bill No. 8632 for Kouame and House Bill No. 8632 for Marañon.
The papers have to be signed into law by President Duterte, similar to what happened to former Gilas Pilipinas naturalized players Marcus Douthit and Andrey Blatzhe, who both played important roles for the national team.

AS his naturalization process moves forward, Angelo Kouame is closely following Gilas journey. He s also hopeful that his citizenship bid will be approved by legislators in the earliest time possible.
The 6-foot-10 Ateneo Blue Eagles center could be a big boost to the all-cadet squad that will be sent to the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Serbia after Samahahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) president Al Panlilio confirmed that no PBA players will be part of the pool.
