Boingo Wireless is now officially owned by private equity investor
Digital Colony, the two said on Wednesday. The deal valued Boingo at approximately $854M. Digital Colony paid $14.00 in cash per share of Boingo common stock. The deal takes Boingo off the public markets, where it had been trading as WIFI on the NASDAQ. The deal also included assumption of $199M in Boingo s net debt obligations, which is included in the valuation. Boingo was founded in 2001.

Boingo reported this morning that it has scored a win at
Rockefeller Center. According to the company, the deal at the iconic New York City location will cover 22 acres in Manhattan, offering up a new, Wi-Fi 6 network for daily visitors, business operations, and tenants. Financial details of the win were not announced. Boingo said it will provide Wi-Fi 6 connectivity for both the indoor and outdoor public spaces at Rockefeller Center, which includes three city blocks between Fifth Avenue and the Avenue of the Americas, from 48th to 51st Streets.
