The results of a post mortem will determine the direction of a Garda probe into the sudden death of a woman found with head injuries in her home in Sligo. The woman, named locally as Angela Canavan, who lived alone, was found unresponsive in her rented house at St John’s Terrace at around 8.30pm on Monday night. Earlier than evening she had been seen in a local shop. Gardaí say her death is unexplained and are investigating the full circumstances surrounding it. A post mortem was conducted at Sligo University Hospital on Tuesday by a State Pathologist while Gardaí continue to carry out a detailed technical and forensic examination at the house. CCTV from the area is also being viewed. A key part of the probe is whether the deceased had visitors to her house on Monday night. Ms Canavan, in her 50s, was a separated mother of two originally from Mayo.
