An inheritance scam letter sent to a Timaru Herald reader who wants to warn others. Personal details have been blotted out for the recipient s security.
A Timaru resident was surprised to receive an inheritance scam letter recently that was personally addressed to them and contained private family information. Though they were not taken in by the promise of a huge inheritance of US$28.5 million ($NZ$40.9m) they wanted to warn others not to get caught. The scammer insisted they had invested the “nest egg” on the direction of the person who may be related to the recipient and had made even more money, an accrued profit and interest of $30.8m.
