L-R: Angel Toledo and Marina Page - Credit: BHUT Transgender staff at an east London hospital trust have spoken out about the discrimination and rejection they have faced when coming out to their families and in previous jobs. Marina Page, a domestic services worker at Queen’s Hospital, said she was disowned by her parents when she told them about her plans to transition and was barred from attending her mother’s funeral. Despite her family’s refusal to accept her, she began her permanent transition in August 2015. Speaking on International Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31, Ms Page said spending the weekend away as Marina was a turning point.
