Isle of Wight High Sheriff Caroline Peel took the opportunity for a ride on a gentle giant of a horse while presenting an award to an Island Riding Centre groom. Angel Passmore has received the High Sheriff of the Isle of Wight Award for her outstanding dedication to learning and progression in her career. While handing over the accolade, Caroline hopped on Donald - a 17.2 hands high Clydesdale, who is partial to mints. Angel has completed her studies with the HTP Apprenticeship College and the Newport-based equestrian centre and is now a full time groom, responsible caring for and managing the centre s horses and stables.

Young Mountbatten Volunteers Recognised With High Sheriff Awards

Island youngsters have been recognised for their positives role in their communities - with High Sheriff Awards.
The awards are being given to three Mountbatten Volunteers, who are all under 25.
They are just three of 22 other outstanding winners ,
as previously reported by Isle of Wight Radio, the Island Riding Centre (IRC) said it was thrilled to announce that Angel Passmore was awarded the High Sheriff of the Isle of Wight Award.
Two new arrivals to Island Riding Centre have well and truly landed on their feet Bonsai and Apache are rescued horses from the World Horse Welfare charity and they will now be living in the lap of luxury. The horses will have access to lush pastures and warm stables and they will certainly enjoy the riding centre’s state-of-the-art facilities on the outskirts of Newport. Louise Buckner, Island Riding Centre owner, said “We’d like to rescue more horses; there are so many in need and the World Horse Welfare charity does a phenomenal job in rescuing neglected horses and finding them loving homes.”

Hopes For Rescued Horses At The Isle Of Wight s Riding Centre

There is a bright future ahead for two new arrivals at the Island Riding Centre.
Bonsai and Apache were rescued from the World Horse Welfare charity and they will now be living in the lap of luxury.
The horses will have access to lush pastures and warm stables and they will enjoy the state of the art facilities.
And they are now free to nibble polos- for the first time, gallop in the waves and roll in the sand.
