A Gastonia man accused of shooting and killing a Bessemer City teenager on Dec. 21 will remain in jail without bond.
Anfernee Latrell Patterson, 25, made his first appearance in court Wednesday afternoon. He’s charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 18-year-old Jeremy Joshua Lipscomb.
Lipscomb was shot at 214 Mountain View St, in Gastonia, just east of U.S. 321, early on Dec. 21. Gastonia Police officers attempted to resuscitate Lipscomb, but he died at the scene.
Assistant District Attorney Megan Rhoden recommended Patterson remain in jail on a hold based on the severity of the crime. Gaston County District Court Judge James Jackson ordered Patterson remain in jail without bond. Patterson shook his head and briefly closed his eyes.

Gastonia Police have arrested a man in the killing of a Bessemer City teenager from earlier this month, according to an arrest warrant.
Anfernee Latrell Patterson, 25, of Gastonia was arrested Tuesday and booked into Gaston County Jail just after 4 p.m. without bond.
Patterson is scheduled to make his first appearance in court Wednesday afternoon.
Gastonia Police were called to 214 Mountain View St., just east of U.S. 321, early on Dec. 21, in relation to a shooting.
Officers started CPR on Lipscomb, but he died at the scene.

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. A Gastonia man has been charged with murder in connection with the killing of a Bessemer City teenager earlier this month.
Gastonia Police charged Anfernee Latrell Patterson, 25, with first-degree murder for the shooting of Joshua Lipscomb on Dec. 21. Lipscomb was found shot along Mountain View Street in Gastonia. He died at the scene.
