Muscat: The Lechner Racing duo of Al Faisal al Zubair and Andy Soucek sent a strong signal that they would be the team to watch out after a strong and a solid performance in the opening race of the 2021 International GT Open Championship series at the Circuit Paul Ricard in France on Saturday.
Making his debut in the highly-competitive GT3 endurance series, Oman’s Al Faisal, and Soucek, overcame two safety car interruptions to finish fourth overall and second in their Pro class.
Competing in their Porsche GT3-R car, Al Faisal was the first to go behind the wheel of the 70-minute race but his bid to gain a good lead in the initial stages was put paid by two accidents in the first half. That left the 23 year old Al Faisal with not much of chance to move up after the team had qualified P8 earlier on Saturday.

Muscat: Ahead of the International GT Open Winter Test at the Circuit de Barcelona- Catalunya in Spain, due to be held on April 19-20, Lechner Racing s CEO, Walter Lechner Jr, has expressed confidence in his team of Oman s Al Faisal al Zubair and Spain s Andy Soucek, as the team returns to the International GT Open 2021 campaign.
With a mix of youth and experience in Al Faisal and Soucek, the team has entered in the Pro category in Porsche latest GT3 model – the 911 GT3 R – and Lechner Jr is delighted to be back in the highly-competitive campaign over seven races.

Al Faisal al Zubair to debut in endurance championship

Muscat: Oman’s talented racer Al Faisal al Zubair is all set for a new challenge this season as he has signed up with Lechner Racing to debut in the highly-competitive endurance series – 2021 International GT Open Championship.
Al Faisal will team up with an experienced driver, Andy Soucek of Spain, and the duo will drive a Porsche GT3-R as they bid to provide a tough competition to their rivals, which features some of the world’s best endurance racers and teams.
The International GT Open will hold its 16th season since starting in 2006 and the seven-leg series will be begin the season with a race at the Paul Ricard circuit in France on May 16. The series concludes in Barcelona on October 24.
