Frequent viewers of this program have seen me highlight some of the amazing work done by the charity building homes for heroes. Theyre a National Nonprofit that builds or modifies beautiful mortgagefree homes and gifts them to injured veterans and their families. Well gift a home this year every 10 days. It started in 2006 by businessman andy pujol. Building homes for heroes is my way to serve our country, to serve the United States of america. But the story of how the group came to be is what brings me here to tucson, arizona. In 2003, Army Sergeant mary herrera was a military Police Officer serving near fallujah, iraq. She was working as the gunner on the lead humvee of a convoy when, suddenly, they were ambushed. I see two guys up on the bridge. By the time i looked up, we were already getting hit. Wow. Mary was immediately hit in the ar
If you buy a home today in america, theres a oneinfive chance that you will end up living under rules imposed by what we call a board of directors, usually elected by you, the local resident. This board has very broad powers, and based on certain guidelines, well, they dictate just about everything in the community from the color scheme, how many cars can be in the driveway, how high your grass can be. And a lot of states . Guess what, guys . They have the power to take your home if you dont make your monthly dues payments and assessments. Very, very important to understand this. In some cases, people really enjoy Homeowners Associations. Why . Because they protect them. In other cases, i must tell you, they are a nightmare. They can be totalitarian regimes, but most totalitarian regimes, while they have their downsides, they also can be clean and orderly. His is karen and james. Walt disney is a man who had a dream, a dream to take raw land and, with courage and conviction, build a Magic Kingdom called disneyland. Disneyland was a huge success. But walt disney knew that hardly anyone crossed the mississippi to travel to disneyland. So he needed a place on the east coast. The requirements were good weather and also a populous destination. Walt disney saw the unlimited potential of Central Florida. The area around orlando was mostly orange groves, swamps and farmland. There were only 7,500 total residents in Osceola County back in the early 60s. There werent, for miles, any utilities that people could have even connected to. Nothing but cows and oranges. With the florida turnpike and interstate 4 under construction, well, disney made his decision. But he kept it very quiet. Well,

Its her job to protect consumers against fraud. And there is plenty to keep her busy. When the housing bubble burst, foreclosures exploded. But as millions lost their homes, they were often taken advantage of, sometimes even by the big banks themselves. In 2012, 49 states announced a historic settlement with the five largest mortgage servicers. In many cases, they didnt even verify that these foreclosures were actually legitimate. Some of the people they hired to process foreclosures used fake signatures on fake documents. The five largest lenders, of course, were involved. And florida received nearly 10 billion in relief. But even with some homeowners getting relief, scam artists are still out there. These unscrupulous brokers were promising people that they could either get them cash payment for their forec
